Master Crane, Very nice! I like the snap and precision on your strikes, at well as the flow of the whole thing. You did perform this form a little faster than I would have expected. What is the tech at about 0:32? (reverse knifehand?) Other than that, this looks close to the way I practice this form. However, I observed some students at your school adding a technique right after the next punch, but before the front kick. It looks like a double strike, similar to the one we end this form with. I do have a clip of myself doing this form on the cwmai website. If you could take a look at that, you'll see what i mean. Let me know what you think.
After the elbow strike the next technique, at about 32 sec. is simply a open hand down block. I don't know who you observed inserting the move after the next punch but it not taught that way at the main school. In fact, Master Rhee demonstrated this form Thursday (7/30/09) without that technique. I would not recommend adding it. Having said that, I do know of instances when Master Rhee has approved "tweaking" of certain forms (Kuhn Sahn Khun comes to mind). But honestly, this is the first I've heard or seen of this one in Jin Soo. I'll ask the other black belts in class tomorrow. Thanks for directing me to the videos at your website. I didn't know they were there! Talk about "snap and precision". The ones I watched were beautiful.
Consider that "extra" technique gone. I do have a video of some BB students doing JinSoo in a "showdown" type thing in class so the main Instr. is giving a count. They have it in there???
The videos on our website are something I am committed to bringing as up to date as soon as possible. Most of the ones on there now are at least a few years old. I think I can get them better now. I also want to get some of the main sets of our Hapkido techniques documented on there as well. It's a nice resource for review.
Yes, I expect to spend many sessions at your site. I also assumed that most of the forms that I watched there have since "evolved", in a good way. These videos are a great way for us to stay on the same page in regards to form structure. I'm going to try and film other BBs at the main school doing these same forms.
This has already helped me, not only in regard to technique, but also in learning how to use technology LOL. I am looking forward to seeing some clips from others from your school when you get the chance. I'll try to get some of our guys on camera as well.
