Forms are Exercises

A lot of times we have folks training who are frustrated at not learning a new form, or set of techniques as fast as they think they should. I tend to think of all pre arranged movements as simply exercises, not unlike a push-up or sit-up. Knowing how to do the exercise correctly is important, but just memorizing moves doesn't mean much, we have to do the exercises to gain the true benefits. if you don't know your new form yet, don't worry...practice the ones you do know.
I figured out last night that since 1998, I have practiced PSR IlDan almost 16000 times, (16 thousand).
Most of the other forms and techniques probably almost that much as well. My point is that it does take time, Enjoy that, and just enjoy the exercises.

I find the repetitions lead to refinements and improvements that can only be achieved through simply practicing the form over and over again. An open mind focused on self improvement of the form helps as well. Sharing the experience helps accelerate the development as well. I have yet to perform Basic 1 to perfection. Sun!
